BEHAVIOUR GUIDELINES FOR HOLIDAY CAMPS
BEHAVIOUR GUIDELINES AND POLICIES
Bridge Valley holiday programmes are not equipped to provide specialized one-on-one care for children. A level of social skills, i.e., communication, respect and self-awareness, are required from campers to attend a holiday camp. Bridge Valley has very limited tolerance for any kind of bulling or abuse, swearing and disrespect towards others, especially our staff. If any camper abuses another person while at camp they will be removed from the place where they are abusing others and placed where they are not causing harm to others until we are confident that they will not cause further harm to others. In some cases, this may mean being asked to leave camp with no refund, at the expense of their parents or caregivers. If a child walks off by themselves and will not return to a safe supervised location the caregivers or emergency contacts will be contacted and asked to remove them from camp. Any damages to property caused by campers will be invoiced to parents / caregivers.
CABIN AGREEMENT
Below is the agreement we go through with campers and ask them to agree to on the first day of camp. This is so they are aware of the standards we ask from them and know that cabinmates also understand. I will respect all my cabin mates by treating each one as I like to be treated. I will not touch anyone’s belongings. I will respect other’s need for sleep by being quiet after lights out. I will help keep our cabin clean. I understand that the use of swearing or crude joking is not acceptable at camp. I understand that bullying is not acceptable behaviour. My leader is responsible to provide a fun and safe time for myself and my cabin mates. I will listen and respect my leader and other Bridge Valley staff.
